Shortcuts provide a quick and time saving alternative for accessing files and folders across your system. However programs being installed and uninstalled so frequently, shortcuts tend to linger on. If you want to locate and get rid of them permanently, here is one quick way of doing so.

What is ShortcutPathViewer ?

ShortcutPathViewer provides a lightweight, free, efficient means by which users can detect broken shortcut files across their system. Note that the application will not remove the files but will just detect them in a user-given location.

Here is how to use ShortcutPathViewer: run the application and browse to a folder containing shortcuts. The utility will comprehensively display the file name alongside target, whether it exists and Start In value. Browse to multiple disk locations and check whether you have any dead shortcuts or not. ShortcutPathViewer has a simple and intuitive graphical user interface.

For a selected entry you can open the location of the file using Windows Explorer.

ShortcutPathViewer requires no installation, simply extract the contents of the archive and run the executable file. The utility takes very little disk space and resources to run.

In other words, simply choose the source folder and the application will display the target files for all your shortcuts and check if the target file or directory not exists.
